Film Influences

As soon as we came up with our initial short film story, Shallow hal become a great influence to us, and helped us broaden our imagination and come up with various new ideas.the idea of a guy seeing this fat women as a really sexy young lady correlates with our character Danny, as he dreams of Maggie as being a beautiful popular girl, a complete contrast to her original character.




'what i go to school for' is an old well known pop song for teens. its set in a school, and is based on a group of teenager guys admiring their new sexy teacher. the reason why this was an influence to us, is because the narrative realates to our short film. the fact that these boys come into school waiting to see their teacher, this relates to our character Maggie, who is a lonely and unpopular girl that comes into school everday excited to see the hunk-Danny!!




Ugly betty is a well known drama. Betty is recognised by her weird sense in style and attitude, but is also very clever and successful. our character Maggie was influenced by Betty's personality. Maggie is always dressed in bright colours and has unusuall behavious, she is fairly unliked by many, because she acts different and never seems to have much in common with other classmates.




'DirtBag' is another song based on a quiet young boy in school who falls in love with a beautiful and popular cheerleader. we notice the way in which they are so different in character- proving to the audience that they are NOT for eachother.
'Dirtbag' and 'What i came to school for' are both songs which base a story on liking or loving someone who is out of their league. which is what out short film is based on. Maggie and Danny who are from two differnt social groups just cant be together.
